QED Technology is led by Dr Edward Boughton, an applied physicist and quantum technology specialist with extensive experience taking complex quantum systems from concept through to engineered demonstrators.

This experience includes leadership of applied quantum technology programmes in sensing, timing and navigation; development of compact cold-atom and trapped-ion systems; delivery of technical roadmaps and test strategies; support for defence and space stakeholders; and practical engineering work involving ultra-high vacuum systems, alkali-metal handling, lasers, electronics and system integration.

QED brings an unusually broad perspective: deep enough to engage with the underlying physics, practical enough to understand engineering constraints, and commercially aware enough to support funders, companies and end users making decisions about technology maturity, development risk and deployment potential.
